LANDSHAPES ROSEMARY

After the arrival of last month's ceremonial lead single 'The Ring', London's Landshapes have unveiled the starkly different second single from their forthcoming new album Contact. Where 'The Ring' was light-hearted, 'Rosemary' is dark, doomy and droney (yes this is a good thing). Setting an isolated processed vocal over dystopian squelches and visceral, wall-of-noise-esque intersections, 'Rosemary''s almighty combination of instrumentation makes it a massively important listen. Landshapes explain: "...We were exploring the herb and its ability to aid and stimulate memory, which led to the idea of connecting with ancient lineage, whether that be human ancestors or even trees. The idea of placing ourselves within a deep time trajectory, rather than seeing ourselves as special beings, separate from the world around us. The song starts with a feeling in the body, which I suppose is the holding place of so much ancestral DNA." Contact will arrive via Bella Union on the 20th of November. -Holly Mullineaux
